The Punta Aderci Nature Reserve
The Punta Aderci Nature Reserve, established in 1998, covers the territory from the Punta Penna beach to the mouth of the Sinello river. The Reserve borders the Costa dei Trabocchi and the charming Adriatic town of Vasto.
Vasto has that warmth and lightness that only seaside towns can offer. Set in its promontory, it dominates the sea and its marina; and its gulf is one of the most enchanting views of Abruzzo. The Historic Center exudes history and culture, with its churches and its Neapolitan garden, while the noises and flavors of an ancient but still alive Abruzzo still echo through the alleys.
The pride of the entire Punta Aderci Reserve is its beach with its rich biodiversity. Like any jewel, the Punta Aderci beach is a rare jewel that needs to be preserved; in fact, its dune environment is surrounded by rich flora and fauna and protected species such as the Fratino.
It often happens that you come across dolphins of the Stenella genus or bottlenose dolphins off the coast of the Reserve; or to come across, inside some marine cavities, Halymenia floresia, considered the most beautiful red algae in the entire Mediterranean; or, in the late July evenings, when the sand is still warm, breathe in the deep smell of flowering myrtle and sea lily.

Punta Aderci: how to get there
The Punta Aderci Nature Reserve is easily accessible and well connected to the most important regional infrastructures. It is located on State Road 16 near the Port of Vasto.
It is about 10 minutes from the center of Vasto continuing on the Statale Nazione 16 heading north; the recommended motorway exit is Vasto Nord and then continue on state road 16. The Reserve’s signage is clearly present, visible and intuitive to follow.
